Pixmore Junior School

The Prevent Duty

The Prevent duty requires all education providers ‘to help prevent the risk of people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism’. This includes safeguarding learners from extremist ideologies and radicalisation.

The aim of Prevent is to stop people from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.

The objectives of Prevent are to:

  • tackle the ideological causes of terrorism
  • intervene early to support people susceptible to radicalisation
  • enable people who have already engaged in terrorism to disengage and rehabilitate

At Pixmore, we have a designated Prevent Lead who leads whole school training and monitors this specific area for the school. The Governing Body fully accepts the school's responsibility to implement the Prevent Duty and support the Prevent Lead to safeguard pupils in the school.
